12/30/2023 0 Comments Pizza rita challenge![]() Speaking of Lola she was a bit jerky here as well reusing to participate until she reveals to Lincoln that she has trouble learning to read (which is a major plot hole) as back in "Ties That Bind" she was able to read the words "World's Best Dad" written in chocolate chip in the breakfast Lincoln prepared for dad as he's baffled that she knows how to read when in this episode he was the one who taught her). ![]() Then later when they miss the contest they take our their frustration out on Lincoln which he accepts the blame to keep Lola out of trouble until she steps in and explains the whole situation. realized how extreme that was and for Rita trying to justify it by reminding him there's free pizza involved really rubs me the wrong way. The big major issue with the episode is the family who were real jerks in this episode, while I can understand them being upset about losing the contest after putting in so much effort to read all the books them getting angry at Lincoln for failing to get Lola to read before the contest ends was really terrible, especially since at one point Rita was willing to go along with Lucy's idea of chaining Lola up in the attic and tell Wetta she never existed and that Lana has a split personality, at least Lynn Sr. While I did enjoy the episode there were plenty of things that I really didn't like about it so lets start off with the negatives first. Pigeons pizza, the episode ends with Lisa still running away from librarian Wetta who states she still owes her $50,000 in overdue fines. Everyone enjoys the pizza with them even stating its better then Spunk E. Pigeons but to their surprise they find Lola using several of her mini ovens making pizza for all of them to apologize for costing them the contest and learned to make said pizzas from one of the books thanks to Lincoln teaching her to read. Back home the family is still miffed over not getting that private pizza party at Spunk E. Wetta recognizes Lisa after she removes her disguise stating that she still owes money in fines as Lisa runs off. The family apologize to Lola though they don't really apologize to Lincoln for blaming him for losing the contest for them. Lola however confesses that the reason why they missed the contest was because Lincoln was teaching her to read because reading was hard for her but now likes reading. Lola manages to finish reading the book and thanks Lincoln for teaching her, however the family is of course furious with Lincoln and Lola as the contest ended a long time ago and cost them the pizza party as Lincoln to protect Lola lies about falling asleep which is why they missed the contest. They end up missing the deadline for the contest but Lincoln insists that Lola keep reading. Hearing the situation Lincoln offers to help teach her to read despite the contest ending in a few minutes. She reveals that she has trouble reading (its possible she might suffers from dyslexia) as its really hard for her so she never reads but deep down wants to. ![]() Lincoln then tries to force Lola to read a book but Lola still refuses to cooperate as she runs away and he chases after her until finally Lola reveals the real reason she didn't want to take part in the reading challenge. Lola tries to lie and says that she just doesn't like pizza which is a clear lie as its followed by a montage of Lola loving pizza and even back in "Fed Up" and one of the early shorts shows that she loves pizza. Lincoln claims he can get Lola to read one book before the contest ends as the family leaves him and Lola at the library as Lincoln tries to get to the bottom of why Lola refuses to read. Everyone passes expect for Lola who not surprisingly didn't read the book Lincoln gave her as fails the book quiz and because the rules strictly says every member of their family has to read one book the family is disqualified much to the annoyance of the family. Back at the library with the contest hours away from ending the family has read way more books then any of the other families participating, however in order to prove that they've actually read the books librarian Wetta gives each of the family a book quiz. Desperate to win the contest the family do everything they can to get her to read one book but Lola refuses to budge until finally giving in to reading book. Pigeons the catch every member of the family has to read at least one book which is a problem for the Louds as Lola is the only one who refuses to participate. The family take part in a reading challenge at the library for which ever family reads the most books gets a free pizza party all to themselves at Spunk E.
